After 30 years at the helm of the Human Rights of Watch as Executive Director, Kenneth Roth has bowed to pressure to resign come next month following serious misconduct cases and ruining the watchdog’s credibility. His long tenure has been marred by all sorts of scandals and controversies. Accountability must take its course, the corrupt Roth must answer corruption related charges.

Since 1993, the human rights advocate impostor Kenneth Roth diverted the Human Right Watch from its mission which was dedicated to protecting human rights and turned the organization into a political instrument that serves special political interests.

Under Roth troubled misrule, the Human Rights Watch engaged in financial scandals. In 2020, Kenneth was caught up red-handedly receiving bribes from a Saudi businessman to cover up their human rights violations. An offence, David Bernstein, a founder of the HRW criticized as wrong when a human rights organization goes to one of the worst countries in the world with human rights record to raise money through bribes.

In his three decades of misrule, Roth under his chameleon watchdog was obsessed with Rwanda. The corrupt fellow was behind the strong campaigns that aimed to resurge the genocide ideology. Despite Ingabire Victoire having ignoble records of working with genocidaires and belonging to the cabal of the genocide fugitives (FDU-Inkingi), Roth’s Human Right Watch acknowledged Ingabire as a credible and legitimate “opposition leader”.

This impostor Roth also condemned Gacaca courts- a successful homegrown judicial model that dealt with backlog of cases from the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi. He referred to Gacaca as them a “ tool of repression”, another proof that Roth and his organization preferred impunity of the perpetrators.

Nothing can exhaust this man’s crimes of decades that fed the whole world flawed reports. But one thing is for sure, whether his western-based bosses hold this corrupt Kenneth accountable or not; at this juncture, they should know that the world no longer needs lectures on human rights by crooked individuals as Kenneth Roth.
