Even after heads of the state of Rwanda, DR Congo, and Angola met in Luanda recently and agreed on a roadmap that among other things included strongly fighting hate speech and ethnic stereotyping in DRC, the Tshisekedi regime is busy sabotaging everything.
The Congolese are committed to disparaging the roadmap, as indicated by the continued coordinated campaign of stoking hate against Kinyarwanda-speaking Tutsi citizens of Congo, with the Kinshasa regime killing Tutsis in broad daylight.
A France-based newspaper, Libération, that toured various parts of DRC and listened to testimonies of the survivors points the fingers at the ruling political party of President Tshisekedi (UDPS), its cadres, and the military, as the culprits in the crimes against humanity.
Survivors made shocking revelations that include cannibalism, and setting ablaze Tutsi’s homes as the new strategy UDPS is advancing to get rid of those Tshisekedi has labelled as “enemies of Congo” – those are Kinyarwanda-speaking Tutsi citizens of the very same country.
Tshisekedi himself unveiled a militia wing dubbed “Brigade Spéciale de l’UDPS” which is under the auspices of his ruling party. The youthful members of the new militia strutted around with machetes, spears, and hammers among other crude weapons while intimidating the Tutsi. These gruesome incidents of violence are escalating into genocide as days go on. The government of Felix Tshisekedi is solely responsible for the ongoing ethnic violence.
DR Congo as a state member of the United Nations should adhere to the Genocide Convention. As stipulated in Article 2, these are “acts committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group is genocide.” Tshisekedi regime not only is in dereliction of this convention, but it is also actively and deliberately stoking the fires of genocide.
They have to be made accountable.
