BUSTED: FDLR in a fresh recruitment under FARDC’s watch, mission remains same: terrorism

News from reliable sources indicates that FDLR – the notorious anti-Rwanda group born of ex-FAR and Interahamwe genocidaires – is currently running a massive recruitment operation under the auspice of Congolese army (FARDC) in a malevolent “project” to harm Rwanda’s territorial integrity.

The recruitment kicked off early this month, the training is taking place in Miandja Suburb from Masisi Locality – the exercise will see a total number of 400 new terrorists recruits comprised of adults and child soldiers commissioned into FDLR/CRAP (a notorious hit squad) and sent at the battlefield. This has also been confirmed by the Masisi-based civil society forum.

The revelation came two months after the United Nations Group of Experts revealed how Kinshasa had guaranteed the FDLR full control of Virunga National Park bordering Rwanda and that the terrorist group was using the park to re-organize itself by mainly doing mass recruitment and military drills across the Eastern part of the country as they prepare to attack Rwanda.

By overseeing recruitment and awarding FDLR full control of the Congolese territory that borders Rwanda, Kinshasa is openly facilitating the blacklisted genocidal and terrorist group to keep wrecking terrorism on Rwanda. FDLR does this through hit-and-run attacks being its main strategy. Well, the world is watching and is aware that DRC’s mischievous acts contravene the provisions made by regional peace frameworks that urge Kinshasa to rout FDLR urgently.

The damning revelations about the FARDC-FDLR alliance are overwhelmingly coming in at a time when the Congolese army started releasing senior fighters of the FDLR that had been incarcerated in various prisons across the country.

The exercise is part of the “Pinga agreement” that the two parties recently reached in Rutshuru territory in an attempt “to fast-track” the ongoing civil war against M23 rebels with FDLR terrorists fighting for the Congolese army.

FDLR always dreams of coming back to Rwanda for the “unfinished business”; that’s the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi. It is against that backdrop that over the last two decades the genocidal group launched several hit and run attacks that were foiled by mighty Rwandan security forces. FDLR with full backing of DRC in recent days shelled multiple rockets into Rwanda which claimed some injuries and property damages.

Rwanda’s demand to the DRC authorities has always been to arrest FDLR criminals, bring them to book, or deport them to their native country for trial. Nonetheless, the Rwanda’s plea has fallen on deaf ears as Congolese failed leaders leverage the terrorist group into their political gains.

It is high time for Tshisekedi, who commands all Congolese security forces, to recommit to uprooting the FDLR, otherwise he can never expect to disguise his culpability.
