In order to keep delaying his trial and evade justice, the key financier and mastermind of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi Felicien Kabuga, filed a plea asking to have his defence team changed because he wants Pierre Larochelle as his lawyer, the same man known for defending other genocidaires.
Kabuga has been a fugitive of law for more than 28 years. He is charged with genocide, direct and public incitement to commit genocide, conspiracy to commit genocide, and persecution on political grounds, extermination, and murder as crimes against humanity, committed during the 1994 genocide against Tutsi in Rwanda.
Even in the presence of credible evidence pointing at him, Kabuga still has the guts to make demands showing how unrepentant he is. His role in the genocide against Tutsi was more than cruel, the only fair thing for him is a life sentence though it wouldn’t repair the damage or bring back the innocent lives lost.
Kabuga’s tactics of avoiding justice shall not fool anyone, the fact still remains he is a genocide criminal who has been wandering free for long enough. It’s about time justice prevails and Kabuga pays for the crimes he committed.
