It is not a coincidence that the new attacks against the United Nations peacekeepers in the Democratic Republic of Congo are concentrated in South Kivu Province, in areas predominantly inhabited by Kinyarwanda-speaking Congolese whom the Tshisekedi gang are hunting like animals.
Tshisekedi’s new genocide plan is to distract the UN peacekeepers to allow the allied forces of FARDC and the blacklisted genocidal, terror outfit- FDLR to move into the villages inhabited by Tutsi Congolese and wipe them out without detection. This plan has already kicked off in the Eastern part, and several death have been reported in Minembwe area, where FARDC-FDLR forces killed people, including Muganza Ngenganyi, a 14 year old boy who was found herding his family’s cattle.
In his new genocide plan, Thsisekedi has ordered direct attacks on UN peacekeepers in camp located in Minembwe, whereby the attacks are blamed on the Twirwaneho armed group which was born as a self-defense response by the Kinyarwanda-speaking Congolese in South Kivu to protect their lives and property against FARDC – FDLR and Mai Mai militias who had been terrorizing them for decades.
Tshisekedi hopes to create a diversion to so that MONUSCO starts seeing the self-defense group as a threat rather than victims. This would lead MONUSCO to stop even the little surveillance they have been conducting, leaving the Tutsi communities in South Kivu even more exposed to Tshisekedi’s genocidal forces.
MONUSCO who are under existential threat in DRC have been plunged into a state of frustration and confusion, and are therefore not in a good positing to know who exactly is attacking them as they face heightened hostility created by Tshisekedi’s rule. As it is, Tshisekedi and his cronies have been able to achieve their objective and a genocide is continuing unabated.
The UN agency charged with protecting civilians and preventing genocide must be vigilant and pro-active to stop this ongoing genocide before the world is forced into guilt and regret once again, by failing the global vow of ‘Never Again’ once again. The agency and other human rights must up their game to stay keep in step with Tshisekedi’s shrew genocidal tactics.
