A statement issued by Alice Wairimu Nderitu, the United Nations Special Adviser on the Prevention of Genocide, after her four-day meticulous visit in eastern DRC, confirms that FDLR – the genocidal rebel group offshoot of Ex FAR and Interahamwe – is at the center of the widespread ideology of genocide in the region (but particularly in eastern DRC), with all signs they will perpetrate mass atrocities in the near future.
Special Adviser Nderitu condemned the existence of FDLR, their active hostility, while showing that new splinter groups are continuously formed from the black-listed genocidal illegal armed group. This evidence shows how FDLR and its splinter groups continue to wreak terror in DRC; contradicting the ongoing propaganda narrative of Tshisekedi and his regime that “FDLR was reduced to nothing.”
Tshisekedi’s contradictions yet again confirm his unbreakable bond with FDLR – which right now is working with the Congolese army FARDC to perpetrate genocide against Congolese nationals of Tutsi ethnicity. The unholy alliance targets Congolese Tutsi citizens in scenes that echo the ones that led to the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda. Tshisekedi has to be condemned in the strongest terms!
It is worth noting that the terrorist FDLR that is embedded in the Congolese army has never made any secret of its desire to maintain the genocidal agenda.
The international community has an urgent duty to call out Kinshasa, but also defeat FDLR and its ideology, once and for all.
Otherwise the region will know no peace.
