The International community ought to treat all genocide deniers equally; Genocide against Tutsi deniers must be held to account

As the world joins Rwandans in the 29th commemoration of the 1994 Genocide against Tutsi, the anti-Rwanda elements/groups continue their incessant campaigns to distort facts and denying the Genocide against Tutsi.

The cabal consists of overseas-based offspring of top fugitives of the 1994 Genocide against Tutsi, perpetrators, fugitives and the Western-based Genocide revisionists. These elements use social media as a tool to publicize their notorious agenda every time Rwanda enters the commemoration period. They come up with their disproved “Double Genocide” theory to sow confusion in public with intent to whitewash the perpetrators.

The unrepentant deniers propagate more falsehoods claiming that the downing of former genocidal regime ruler Habyarimana’s plane sparked the genocide; however the regime orchestrated, executed and funded the cleansing of Tutsis. It’s also important to recall thats a French Court ruled that Habyarimana’s plane was shot down by his own soldiers not RPA-Inkotanyi.

The genocidaires, and their sympathizers have established a strong base with adequate funding to keep spreading fictitious narratives so as to conceal their crimes. Among such groups are children of genocidaires who are haunted by the shame of their parents’ crimes; all they have to do is to engage in the futile endeavors in attempt to acquit the perpetrators of their heinous crimes.

As the International Community has been fighting so hard to either reprimand or call out whoever distorts facts and deny the 1995 Srebrenica Genocide and the Holocaust; it should, equally, consider doing the same about the 1994 Genocide against Tutsi. Some countries are still harboring genocide perpetrators and genocide deniers who are still engaging in hate speech and ethnic incitement with impunity, it’s high time such individuals face the wrath of the law.

However as President Kagame said, “the truth of the matter is what has always been said, you can run but can’t hide. There is no hiding place for you from these very facts of our history.” They will deny but won’t alter facts about their ferocious crimes.
